THE BEGINNING OF THE LOVE AFFAIR
Nearly two years ago I fell in love……. with the Oregon coast! While this is certainly not unusual at all, under the circumstances it is odd timing. First, it was 2020, not sure I have to say much more about that, but it did actually help me discover the Oregon coast like I never had before. The second oddity is that I have lived in the Pacific NW for 40 years.
I am looking forward to sharing with you, my experiences on my travels to the Oregon Coast these past 2 years, as well as the Washington and California coasts. There are other coastal cities I have visited, such as Galveston TX, Portland MA, and Key West FL, that I will love to write about.

My love of the ocean has also led me to an amazing addiction…..cruising. To date I have experienced 25 cruises, 5 cruise lines, and over 25 ports of call. I love to be able to visit different cultures while my hotel travels with me. I hope to share with you my adventures, ports of calls, different ships, and updates on this ever changing industry.

MY LOVE OF SEAFOOD
I spent over 30 years selling seafood, both retail and merchandising. I have had to learn the wild seafood seasons, what’s available when, what is sustainable, what farmed fish is good or bad, etc. I retired 2 years ago, and honestly miss it. I would love the opportunity to share my knowledge, experience, and personal preference with you on what to purchase, eat and support. My opinions are not always popular, but input from other points of view is always welcome.

Another, perhaps even more powerful, influence in my new love affair, is my passion for the sustainability of our oceans and the amazing life existing, yet mostly unseen, below. I spent over 30 years selling seafood, either retail or merchandising. I have seen a lot of changes, shifts, and depletions in supply. Having just recently quit working, and I am spending my free time studying “marine biology”. Not in an academic way, but personal education about how to protect the life in our oceans. While I find this subject most challenging to write about, hopefully it can make a difference.
